Your StrengthsFinder Log in Depends on How You Took It

StrengthsFinder is now CliftonStrengths, your results sit in a Gallup Access account, and login.gallup.com is the public door, while store.gallup.com only sells codes. Which StrengthsFinder log in is yours depends on how you first took it, and the five theme names waiting inside answer less about your next move than most people expect.

The Basics

StrengthsFinder log in: how to get into the account that holds your results

Which door is yours is decided by how you first took it, so start here rather than at the search box.

  • A code from a Gallup Press book. Door: login.gallup.com, on the email address you typed the day you redeemed it. You should see a Gallup Access home screen with CliftonStrengths in the menu and your Top 5 report under it.
  • You bought the code yourself. Door: login.gallup.com for the report; store.gallup.com holds only your receipt and re-orders. You should see the same Gallup Access screen. If the page is offering to sell you something, you are standing in the shop rather than in your account.
  • Your employer ran it. Door: the link in the invitation your company emailed, which almost certainly created the account on your work address. You should see Gallup Access with your organization attached to it, and sometimes a second-step code issued by your employer's own sign-in system.
  • Your university ran it. Door: your campus Gallup subdomain, which follows the pattern <school>.my.gallup.com. You should see your campus sign-in page first and Gallup Access second, never a Gallup password prompt.
  • You took it years ago on StrengthsQuest or Gallup Strengths Center. Door: login.gallup.com on that old address, because both retired sites now point there. You should see either your themes already carried over, or an empty-looking account that needs the transfer step described further down.

Five doors and not one, because the instrument became CliftonStrengths in 2015, named for Don Clifton, the psychologist behind it, and the older StrengthsQuest and Gallup Strengths Center sites were folded in behind that name. One instrument, four names, several retired front doors. Which is why a search for a strengthsfinder login, or a gallup strengthsfinder login, returns half a dozen sign-in pages, all of them live and just one of them yours.

On the book route, codes come printed in Gallup Press titles, and the two most people are holding are StrengthsFinder 2.0 and Strengths Based Leadership. Strengths Based Selling, CliftonStrengths for Students, It's the Manager and Wellbeing at Work carry one too, though what a given printing includes has changed over the years, so check the edition before you buy a book for its code. Every code is single use and sold with a new copy, which is why a second-hand book is almost always a spent code. The strengthsfinder 2.0 book access code login question is two questions wearing one phrase: redeeming a code creates the account, signing in returns to it.

Campus access runs on separate rails, which is why a university strengthsfinder portal log in behaves nothing like the public one. Schools that license CliftonStrengths are usually given their own Gallup subdomain on the pattern <school>.my.gallup.com, so purdue.my.gallup.com and its equivalents all open the same way: campus username and password, then whatever two-factor your campus runs, then Gallup Access. From there the route is the account menu, then CliftonStrengths, then Transfer CliftonStrengths when the result was taken under an older product name or you want it moved onto an address of your own. Purdue's instructions for returning users lay that sequence out, and other campuses follow it closely enough to use as a map. Once campus credentials lapse, which usually happens a term or two after graduation, the subdomain stops recognizing you and the transfer is no longer yours to run: it becomes a support request. That is the argument for moving the result while you are still a student.

Where can I find my results and reports?

Your results and reports live inside Gallup Access once you are signed in, not on the page that sold you the code. Open the account menu, find CliftonStrengths, and the Top 5 report is the default view; anything else you own, including role-specific reports, is listed beside it. If nothing is broken and you only need the address and a password reset, our walkthrough of the Gallup StrengthsFinder log in covers that path from end to end.

Where do I find my CliftonStrengths?

Your themes are on the CliftonStrengths page inside your account, not on the public product page that carries the same name. The two share a title, which is why people bounce between them. If the page you have reached is inviting you to buy something, you are on the storefront; the results view only appears once the account recognizes you.

How do I redeem my CliftonStrengths access code?

A code is redeemed once, on Gallup's redemption page, and that redemption is what creates or attaches the account, so the email you type becomes the credential you sign in with from then on. Use an address you expect to control in ten years. A code that reports itself as already used has been redeemed by somebody, and the fix is account recovery on that first address rather than a second redemption.

Methodology

StrengthsFinder log in problems, and what actually fixes each one

Failed sign-ins fall into a handful of shapes, and a password reset solves only the first of them. Knowing which shape you are in saves the loop of resetting a password on an account that was never yours to begin with.

Start with the credential itself. Whether you searched for a gallup login or a strengthsfinder gallup login, the credential is the same thing: an email address and a password, never a separate username. So the username you are straining to remember is almost always an old email account.

Where the password reset sits, and what to do when the reset email never arrives

The reset link is on the sign-in form itself at login.gallup.com, under the password box, where it offers help with a forgotten password. You type the address, Gallup mails a link, and the link expires, so use it the same day it lands. When nothing arrives, work through it in order: the spam and quarantine folders first, then your employer's mail filter if the address is a work one, then the possibility that no account exists on the address you typed at all. A silent non-delivery is as likely to mean wrong address as blocked mail, and guessing between the two is where people waste a week.

Gallup's account assistance route settles it. It is the help request on Gallup's own support site, reached from the help link in the Gallup Access footer or from the support section of gallup.com, and it is the one way to ask whether an account exists on a given address when you cannot open that mailbox. Use it as the existence probe before you reset anything and before you create a second account on a new address. Work backwards through the addresses you held when you took the test and have each one checked.

A lost access code, and the one thing that still finds it

If the code is gone but you already redeemed it, the code no longer matters. What you are looking for is the account it opened, and account assistance is the tool for that. A strengthsfinder login lost access code search usually ends there: the code was a one-time key, and the account it opened is permanent. If the code was never redeemed and the book is gone, there is no lookup to run. A used code cannot be reissued, and a new one has to be bought.

What if the email I used for my StrengthsFinder log in no longer exists?

This is the most common failure on the whole query and the least covered anywhere, and it does have a path. The account is not gone. It is stranded on an address you can no longer read. Contact Gallup support with the details that identify it as yours: roughly when you took it, the book or purchase the code came from, the order number if you bought it, and the old address. Ask them to update the address on the existing account rather than opening a new one, because a new account starts empty and the old one keeps the report. If the dead address was a company mailbox, your former employer's account administrator may still be able to release the seat. Nobody outside Gallup can retrieve a Gallup account for you, ourselves included.

Set your expectations for the reply before you send it. This is a written support request through Gallup's help channel rather than a live chat, the answer comes back by email, and a few working days is normal rather than a few minutes. It moves faster when every identifying detail is in the first message, so have the old address, the approximate month and year you took it, the book or order the code came from, the order number, and any name change since, all in front of you before you start typing.

How do I view the results of someone I purchased a code for?

Paying for the code does not put their results in your account. A CliftonStrengths result belongs to whoever sat it, and sharing it is theirs to do. Buy a single code as a gift and the report reaches you only if they send it. Buy codes for a team through a Gallup Access team account and the team side is where any shared view lives, with members joining the team before their themes appear there. Confirm the current behavior with Gallup support, because the admin tools change more often than the instrument does.

What are multi-use access codes?

A multi-use code covers a set number of people instead of one person. Organizations and instructors buy them so they are not handing out a separate key to everybody; each person redeems the same code until the allotment runs out. The catch worth knowing before you send it round is that a multi-use code does not create a shared results view by itself. Every redemption still makes an individual account, and the reports stay inside those accounts.

How do I distribute an access code?

Send it to the person who will take the test, and tell them which email address to use before they redeem it. That single instruction prevents most of the failures on this page. For a group, decide in advance whether people should redeem on a personal address they will keep or a work address they may lose, then write the choice into the invitation. Codes bought inside a Gallup Access team account can also be assigned from there, which leaves a record of who has claimed what.

My StrengthsFinder log in works but my results are missing: transferring old results

A sign-in that succeeds and then shows nothing points at one of two situations. Either you are inside a different account from the one holding the result, or the result predates the current platform. Older results taken on StrengthsQuest or Gallup Strengths Center get moved across rather than lost. Campus portals build the move in explicitly, under Transfer CliftonStrengths in the account menu. Transferring CliftonStrengths results to another account is a support request off campus, so check the second account and the address on your receipt before you conclude anything is gone.

What You Get

What you actually see after the StrengthsFinder log in

Worth knowing before you get there, because the hard moment on this route is not the sign-in page. It is the screen after it. A standard access code buys your five strongest themes by name with a short description of each. The remaining 29 sit behind a paid upgrade, which is why a strengthsfinder log in top 5 vs all 34 search tends to happen within a minute of getting in.

Beside the theme report, an account can hold role-specific reports written for managers, salespeople and students, plus the controls for sharing and for language. The instrument is unipolar, meaning it reports talent and does not score weakness, so nothing in the account will tell you where a theme costs you something.

How do I upgrade to see my full 34 CliftonStrengths?

The upgrade is bought from inside the signed-in account and applies to the questions you already answered, so you do not sit the test again. Your full 34 arrive ranked, with the lower themes described as lesser talents rather than faults. Whether the other 29 earn their price turns on the use you have for them, and we have set out what CliftonStrengths costs at each tier separately.

How do I change the report language?

Report language is a setting on the account rather than a property of the result, so it can be changed after the fact and changed back. CliftonStrengths is published in a long list of languages and the theme names travel with it. If you answered the questions in one language and want the report in another, switching the setting re-renders the report; it does not re-score anything.

Can I share the report I see after my StrengthsFinder log in?

Yes. The report exports as a PDF you can send, and the account carries a sharing option for handing a link to a colleague or a coach. A purchaser hoping to see somebody else's result has the same one route: ask them to share it, because their account is the only place it lives. Sharing hands over the report, never the account, and the other person cannot change anything.

The Difference

You logged in to StrengthsFinder and found five themes. Now what?

Getting back in was the means. Direction was the point, and an ordered list of talents stops one step short of it.

The StrengthsFinder log in gives you themes, not direction

Gallup states the scope in its own technical report for the instrument, The Clifton StrengthsFinder 2.0 Technical Report (Asplund, Lopez, Hodges and Harter, 2007), which says the measure identifies talent and was not designed to be used for selection or hiring decisions. Read plainly, it was never built to pick work for you. That is a fair scope, honestly stated, and it explains the short feeling of the screen after the sign-in.

Your StrengthsFinder results grade talent, not the conditions around it

A talent theme describes a capability. What it never sampled is the week that capability has to survive: the hours, the autonomy, the pressure, the people you answer to. So a theme can be accurate about you and the job still be wrong for you. The gap is common enough to carry a number. Among 1,528 professionals in our sample, 43 percent were doing work they were suited to inside a setting that was working against them.

Old StrengthsFinder results, and whether a retake is the answer

Talent themes are reasonably stable, so a ten-year-old result is usually still a decent description of you. What has changed in ten years is the decision you are holding. Sitting the same instrument again returns the same kind of answer with a fresher date on it. If the old result described you well and still left you without a move, a second sitting will not change that.

A StrengthsFinder ranking orders your talents inside you, never against other people

Your 34 themes are ordered against each other, inside you. That says which of your talents leads, and nothing about how you compare with anybody else. Pigment scores each trait and each pairing against the whole population that has sat it, so a result can flag what is uncommon about you rather than only what stands out inside you.
Side by Side

StrengthsFinder results vs Pigment: what each log in gets you

Dimension Pigment Typical tests
What it measures Natural talent, sorted into 34 themes and ranked against each other
What signing in gets you Your Top 5 by name; the other 29 need a paid upgrade
Where the result lives A Gallup account reached through whichever door your code came from
Method Ranked self-report, talent only, about 35 minutes
Career direction Not what it is built for, per Gallup's 2007 technical report for the instrument
What you receive Theme descriptions, plus role-specific reports for managers, sales and students
Price About $24 for the Top 5 tier, the list price as of September 2026; check Gallup's store before you buy

The two instruments are answering different questions, and running both in order is a sensible plan. CliftonStrengths is a well-built instrument for naming talent, and it does that job better than most. Pigment reads the setting alongside the talent, and finishes on directions to aim at instead of a ranked list. In a controlled Purdue comparison of around 90 students, Pigment finished first on understanding personal qualities, in front of CliftonStrengths and the two other instruments those same students had sat. Pigment's grounding draws on four separate research traditions, and the academic study that would license a hard accuracy claim for it has not been published. The rows below mark a difference of purpose rather than a scoreboard.

Who It's For

Who is searching for a StrengthsFinder log in, and what each one needs

One group arrives on this query with no account at all, and the table above is written for them. Take that case first.

Is there a free StrengthsFinder test, and what does free get you?

If you got here searching strengthsfinder test free, you are shopping rather than signing in, and there is no sign-in waiting for you. Gallup sells the code, so a scored CliftonStrengths result is never free. What is free is the vocabulary: the 34 theme names and their descriptions are published, and reading them tells you what the instrument measures without telling you where you land. Everything else at the free end of this market is a different instrument wearing similar language, and we have gone through the legitimate free and low-cost routes one by one.

Four other kinds of people type this phrase, and each of them does have an account to get back into. They need four different things.

The book reader. You bought StrengthsFinder 2.0, took it on the code in the back, and now want the result again. Your account exists on whatever address you used that day, and recovering it is the whole job.

The employee. Your company ran it, possibly inside a workshop you did not choose to attend. Your account is probably on a work address, and if you have since changed jobs, the path runs through Gallup support rather than your old employer's IT desk.

The student or alum. You took it through a campus program, so a strengthsquest login for students is really a campus login. Current students sign in with campus credentials; alumni whose credentials have lapsed have to move the result onto a personal Gallup account, which is far easier to do before you graduate. We have written separately about how students put a CliftonStrengths result to work.

The professional revisiting a decade-old result. This one is our reader, and we would rather name that than dress the other three up as it. You took it years ago, a decision is close, and you went back for the themes hoping they would settle something. The other three want their account back. You want an answer, and the account is only where you assumed it would be kept. Suitability is measurable, and it moves more than people assume. Job satisfaction runs with it at r = .56, and how seriously someone is weighing resignation runs against it at r = -.46 (Kristof-Brown et al., 2005).

How can a Gallup Strengths coach help me?

A Gallup-certified coach reads your themes with you and turns descriptions into conversations about specific situations at work. That is useful if you want interpretation and somebody to hold you to it, and coaching is the intended companion to the instrument rather than an upsell. What a coach cannot do is add a measurement the instrument never took. They are working from the same 34 themes you are looking at.

How do I find a Strengths coach?

Gallup runs a directory of certified coaches, and most independent coaches list the certification on their own sites. Ask two questions before you book: how many sessions they expect this to take, and what you will be holding at the end. We have broken down what a StrengthsFinder coach costs and when it is worth it in more detail.

How do I receive Gallup-Certified Strengths coach pricing?

Coaching is priced by the coach, not by Gallup, so there is no single published rate to be handed. Independent coaches usually quote per session or per package, and Gallup's own coaching for organizations is quoted by seat. If you are buying for a team, ask for the cost per person including the codes, because the codes and the coaching are normally billed apart.

Which to Choose

StrengthsFinder log in questions, answered

Can I log in to StrengthsFinder without an access code?

Yes, if an account already exists. A code is only needed the first time; after redemption you sign in with an email address and a password, and the code is spent. If you have never redeemed one, there is nothing to sign in to, and making an account will not produce a result. That distinction is behind most of the confusion on this query: signing in and starting are two different actions sharing one page.

Does the StrengthsFinder log in work on the Gallup Access mobile app?

Yes. Gallup Access has a mobile app that takes the same credentials as the browser, and your themes and reports show up there once you are signed in. If your organization uses two-factor, the app asks for it too. The app is a convenient way to carry the themes into a conversation, and it adds nothing the browser version lacks.

Why is my StrengthsFinder log in taking me to a CliftonStrengths page?

Because they are the same product. The StrengthsFinder name was moved under CliftonStrengths in 2015, so old links and bookmarks now redirect to CliftonStrengths pages. Nothing was lost in the rename, and a result taken under the old name is the same result under the new one. If a bookmark lands you on a marketing page instead of a sign-in form, the bookmark is pointing at the retired site.

Is there a free StrengthsFinder test PDF I can use instead of logging in?

No, and the PDFs circulating under that name are not the instrument. Gallup sells the code, so a scored result cannot be free, and a photocopied item list would not be measured against Gallup's norms even if it were complete.

Is it okay to use old StrengthsFinder results, or should you retake?

Old results are fine to use. The themes describe patterns that hold up reasonably well across a decade, and anybody searching how to find old strengthsfinder results is usually right to want the original back rather than a fresh sitting. Retake if the first one was taken as a teenager, or if your working life has changed so completely that you no longer recognize whoever answered those questions. Otherwise a second sitting hands you the same five names with a newer date on them and costs another code. If the old themes felt accurate and still did not settle the question you are holding now, their age is not what is wrong with them.

When logging back in is all you need

If you came here to recover an account, recover it and stop. You already own that result, and nothing on this page suggests abandoning it. Pigment is worth your attention in one case only: you got back in, the themes read as accurate, and Monday is still a blank. If the themes did point you somewhere, or you are three weeks from a decision with no budget for it, use them and come back later. For the free half of that picture, a public database of what hundreds of occupations involve in practice and the Occupational Outlook Handbook will tell you what those roles pay and how fast they are growing. Neither one reads you, which is the part the theme list was supposed to supply. Our wider guide to career tests lays out the paid options too.

Manifesto

The log in gets your five theme names back. Putting language around how you work, and a direction to aim it at, is the next piece of work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

My employer ran StrengthsFinder. How do I get into that account?

Sign in through the invitation your employer sent rather than through the public store, because the account was created on the address that received it. If you still have the work email, use it. If you have left the company, that address is probably closed and Gallup support has to move the account to a new one. Your former employer's account administrator can sometimes confirm which address the seat was issued to, which is the detail support will ask you for.

Can Gallup recover an account when the email address is dead?

Usually yes, with proof. The account assistance route asks you to identify the account rather than to open the old mailbox, so what matters is roughly when you took it, the book or order the code came from, and the old address itself. Ask them to update the address on the account that already exists. Creating a second account instead is the mistake that turns a recoverable result into a lost one, because the new account starts empty and the old one keeps the report.

Do old StrengthsFinder results still work with the current CliftonStrengths reports?

Yes. The instrument has been renamed twice but not rebuilt, so a result from the StrengthsQuest or Gallup Strengths Center era carries into the current reports, and an older account can usually be transferred rather than replaced. What changes over ten years is not the themes but the decision you are using them for. If the result was taken before you had the job you now want to leave, it was built to answer something other than the decision sitting in front of you now.

Is the StrengthsFinder log in free?

Signing in is free. Taking the test is not, and neither is seeing past your top five themes. A code is bought on its own or inside a Gallup Press book, and it covers one person once; the full 34 is a further purchase from inside the account. There is no tier where the questions themselves cost nothing, worth knowing before you burn an afternoon looking for one.

How long do results stay in a Gallup account?

As long as the account does. Gallup does not expire a completed result, so what runs out in practice is your access to it: the email address changes, the employer seat closes, or the campus credentials lapse after graduation. That is the argument for moving a result onto an address you control while you can still sign in. A result you cannot reach is functionally the same as one you never sat.

What can I do with five theme names once I am back in?

Use them for language and for conversations, which is what they are built for. They will help you describe how you work during a performance review, an interview, or a team session, and that is a fair return on a code listed at about $24 in September 2026. They will not narrow a career decision, though, because a theme names a talent without saying which conditions sustain it or which roles it suits. If that is the gap you are standing in, a fit-focused read is the piece to add.
