How to run a team debrief where everyone reads their Superpowers together
This is for you if everyone on your team has their own Superpower profile but no one has laid them side by side. Each knows their own edge; the team has no shared picture. So work lands on whoever's free or loudest, two people do the same thing, and something important ends up with no owner.
You do not need to run great meetings. The structure carries it. You just keep time and write on the board.
Before you gather, ask everyone to open their Superpower profile to two sections: their Superpowers (the rare mix only they bring) and their Systems (how they work on a project). Each picks one Superpower and one System. Forty-five minutes, one room, a shared board.
Minutes 0 to 5: say what this is for. Out loud: "We've each read our own profile but never put them side by side. Now we build one map of who brings what: no more guessing, no doubling up, nothing left with no owner."
Minutes 5 to 25: go around. Each person says two things only: their one Superpower and one System. You write each under their name. No debate, no ranking.
Minutes 25 to 40: build the map together. Read the board and sort it into three:
- Overlaps: two or more people bring the same edge. Name the primary and the backup, so they stop doing it twice.
- Complements: one person's Superpower is exactly what another one is missing. Pair them out loud.
- Gaps: the work needs something no name on the board covers. Circle it.
Minutes 40 to 45: name who owns what. For the biggest overlap, agree the primary. For the clearest gap, name who's closest or how you'll cover it.
When you finish, the team holds one page it did not have an hour ago: overlaps settled, complements paired, gaps circled, and for each person the one edge the team counts on them for.
