How to steady yourself when everyone else looks like they've figured it out

15 min

This is for you if the feed hums with everyone else's wins and a clock you can't quite hear keeps running. The panic that you missed some milestone won't quit, and everyone your age looks like they already figured it out.

You're not behind. You're running a comparison with the deck stacked, and it comes out the same way every time. You feel all of your own inside. You see only their edited outside.

A feed is a reel of wins. The promotion, the launch, the photo at the finish line, with the doubt and the slow years trimmed out. So you weigh everything you carry against the few things they chose to post. No one comes out of that steady.

And that ticking clock is one shared timeline that was never yours. It ranks a short list of things that fit on a resume. Most of what you're actually good at has no row on it.

Your results hold a measure that timeline can't rank. In your Career Discovery report, a ✦ marks the traits in Discovering Your Strengths that most people don't carry in their top ten. In your Superpower profile, it's your Superpowers, the rare combination. Read the rarest one.

If you've taken the Superpower profile, it goes deeper on exactly these rare strengths: it ranks every strength by how rare it is, shows the exact percentile you land in, and names the rare combinations only you have.

Now do this.

  1. Read that one rare thing and say it back plainly: the thing you reliably do that most people don't.
  2. Notice that nobody on your feed is being ranked on it, and no milestone by thirty measures it.
  3. Take the comparison that stung most and write beside it: the thing I bring that this never measures is ___.

Keep that line where you'll see it, for the next time the feed starts to hum. You've handed yourself a measure the highlight reel can't touch.
