How to find your next gear when you're doing well and ready for more
This is for you if you're good at your job, trusted with the hard things, and none of it is taking you anywhere new. You're not drained or unhappy. The climb has leveled off, and "doing fine" became the ceiling.
A plateau makes it easy to think you've run out of room. But you haven't. Your rarest strength may barely be getting used in your seat, so you coast on what you're already good at.
Where is your best thing being fed, and where is your seat starving it?
Your profile can't see your calendar, but it names what to look for. Open your two Superpowers, pick the one you want to audit, and your Systems, then read your real month against them. About thirty minutes.
- Write the Superpower you picked in the profile's words, and note its How to Nurture line. Do the same for one System and its How to Amplify line.
- Pull up last month's work as blocks, not tasks: projects, standing meetings, what you shipped. You'll have six to ten.
- Mark each block FIRED or IDLE. FIRED means your Superpower ran at full stretch. IDLE means the work never asked for it and you ran on competence. Half-counts as idle. Be strict.
- Read the map. Your Superpower probably fired in one or two blocks and sat idle across the rest. The plateau is everywhere it sat idle.
- Find the most-starved block: the longest stretch where it sat idle, or the one place you most wish it ran.
- Design one change to feed that block. Take a real piece of next month's work and reshape it so your Superpower has to fire there. Use your How to Nurture or How to Amplify line as the menu. Write it as one line:
> "Next month, I'll [the specific change] so [my Superpower] runs on [the starved block]."
That line is what you walk out with. This was never about the hours that tire you. It's the strength that stopped getting used enough to grow.
