In your Pigment results, some strengths are marked as rare, present in the top ten for only 20% of people.

That means 80% of people don't have easy access to something you take for granted.

This is worth paying attention to.

Why Rare Strengths Feel invisible To You

You've had your strengths your entire life. They feel ordinary because they've always been there.

The task that takes you 10 minutes might take a colleague an hour, not because they're less capable, but because they're not wired for it the way you are.

You might think "anyone could do this." They can't. That's what rare means.

Where To Find Your Rare Strengths

Open your Pigment results. Look for the strengths marked with the rare indicator, the ones only 20% of people share.

These are your points of differentiation. Not your only valuable strengths, but the ones where you stand out most.

Where To Find Your Rare Strengths

  • Notice when you're using them. Pay attention this week. When something feels easy to you but hard for others, check if it connects to a rare strength. That's data about where you add distinct value.

  • Name them in interviews and reviews. When asked about your strengths, lead with the rare ones. Most candidates list common strengths. Yours are different, use that.

  • Emphasize them in how you describe yourself. On your LinkedIn, in your bio, in how you introduce your work, mention what makes you distinct, not just what makes you competent.

  • Look for roles that need them. Your rare strengths signal where you can contribute something hard to find. When evaluating opportunities, ask: does this role actually use what's rare about me?

Find your rare strengths in your results. Pick one.

Ask yourself: Am I using this regularly? Am I known for it? If not, what's one way I could lean into it more?

The strengths you dismiss as "nothing special" might be exactly what sets you apart.
